There is nothing quite like a warm slice of banana bread with some vegan butter. No eggs, dairy or lots of sugar are needed for this vegan chocolate chip banana bread. Just make sure you are using overripe bananas.
Adding vegan chocolate chips and walnut pieces makes this banana bread so amazing. The nuts give the bread a nutty flavour and soft yet crunchy texture. If you don’t like walnuts, try any other tree nuts.

Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Servings: 1 loaf
Ingredients
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 30 g granulated sugar
- 30 g light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup vegan chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup walnut pieces
- 3 large very ripe bananas or 4 medium size bananas
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- 125 ml coconut or canola oil
- 1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a big bowl combine all dry ingredients..
- In a medium bowl mash the bananas, leaving some small chunky bits.
- Add the oil, lemon juice and vanilla to the bananas and mix well.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and combine until just mixed.
- Pour the batter into a well buttered loaf pan.
- Bake for 45 - 50 minutes.
- Let cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Turn out onto rack, let cool completely.
This Banana Bread is denser, heavier and less sweet than my Vegan Marbled Banana Bread.
